Billie Eilish, or who I like to call Billie Eyelash, has been on my radar since back in 2016 when she popped up on the scene with her hit ‘Ocean Eyes’. Let me tell you, this 17-year-old’s clout levels are a million times what mine were back in high school. I mean she rocks fake Louis Vuitton with no shame. It’s f**king savage and I love it. She has basically become the poster child of our generation when it comes to pop music.

This past Friday, she released her debut full-length album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”. Being a huge fan of Billie, I had to give it a listen. This album shows Billie’s dark side but weaves in elements of her humor and sarcasm. It’s haunted and light-hearted intertwined. Her first track entitled “!!!!!!” is merely a 13 second clip of her joking about taking out her Invisalign before singing. Now that’s my idea of a great introduction.

My top two tracks on the album definitely have to be “bad guy” and “my strange addiction.” The later might take the cake for my favorite, simply because it shares the name with one of my favorite television shows. They are both upbeat songs with serious head bumping qualities. “All the good girls go to hell” and “you should see me in a crown” are honorable mentions.

Some of the songs, I must admit, lose appeal after listening in. Many start off with good potential, but they lack that beat drop I crave. Songs like “xanny” and “I love you” just don’t do it for me. The song “8” is strangely high pitched. It also includes the ukulele. Two things I don’t look for in a song.

Overall, there is no doubt that this album is one of the best to come out in 2019. Billie is only on the come up from here. Regardless of the bad apples in the album, make sure to give this album your attention. I think she has a few chart toppers you have to hear before they get big. If you hook up to the aux and play some of these songs, you might just become the cool kid at the party.
